Grateful for Creativity

It’s that time of year when everyone is taking a moment to say, “Thank You!” The more I thought about gratefulness and all that we have been given, the more I thought about the Wisdom of God. God’s wisdom has given us so very much through the inventiveness of the men and women He created. He chose to give His people the gift of creativity. He made us in His image. Wow! When I think about that, I am awe-struck! He’s is the Essence of Creativity.

“God created humanity
in God’s own image,
in the divine image God created them,
male and female God created them.” Genesis 1:27

God created all living and non-living things. Looking at the intricacies of the center of a flower, the powerful symmetry of butterfly wings, the design of a tree puts me in a state of constant wonder. Our bodies are designed with amazing detail and order.

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” Psalm 139:13-14

We are made to emulate Him. Our potential to create is part of being His creatures. It’s who we were intended to be.

Ingenuous, imaginative, creative, inventive

God’s Wisdom gave us this gift so we could be the caretakers of all that He created.

“God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature

So they can be responsible..for the Earth itself…”  Genesis 1:26

God has worked and still is working through man’s creativity.

God’s Creativity is being made manifest through our amazing inventions, ideas, and man-made wonders. They are God’s creative genius working through people to make life more and more meaningful, more God-pleasing. Hundreds and hundreds of inventions, works of art, music, and writing, medical advancements, technological innovations have come from the creative minds given to us by a loving God.

We were meant to problem solve, search for new horizons, explore unknown worlds, heal, improve, design, compose, innovate.

That is something worthy of  thanksgiving!!

Invention and discovery that comes from science, music, the arts, medicine, social changes that lift up the down-trodden, writing, all technology—these are gifts that God has given to us through His people. When humanity seeks to improve,

to heal,

to inspire,

to excel,

to encourage,

to rise up,

to reflect nature’s beauty…

God’s creativity is at work.

It’s true that our humanity and self-centered hunger has used our God-given creativity for selfish and destructive reasons, but fortunately God is in control. More than not, the world has changed for the better when God’s people purposefully use their intellect, their wisdom, and their creativity. God has surely used the brilliant minds of those who even deny Him to continue His purposes for the world He created.

It would take a lot of research to learn about the magnitude of how God’s wisdom and Christ’s power has changed our world. (Below are a few links that tell of  the productive, powerful influence of 100’s of believers.)

So on this Thanksgiving I am grateful for:

research and discoveries that have improved our health;

women being recognized for their unique abilities;

children being cared for and valued;

freedom, justice, and the right to choose;

art, literature, music, architecture;

education to stimulate our God-given hunger to learn;

the hundreds of organizations  that work for compassion and charity;

the tools of communication that teach and bring us together;

government that values community and individual opportunity;

the influence of science that has improved life, health, and had revealed the wonder of Creation.

It is my prayer that mankind continues to seek God and His gift of grace. And when we do, we grab hold of the partnership we have with the God of Creation. Happy Thanksgiving, readers!
